You’ve heard about improv, of course. Maybe you’ve run into “Yes, And” in corporate, leadership, or communication training. Or you might have a friend who’s taken classes and is convinced you’d love it, or worse, that it would be “good for you.” Maybe you’re not an actor, comedian or entertainer. Maybe you’re a little introverted, cautious by nature, thoughtful. But people who know you think you’d like it, and honestly, you are a little curious.
If you are new to improv, our Intro to Open Mind class is designed for you. The exercises in this class simplify your learning process by beginning with easy activities and building new skills each week.
Instructor Dave Tillery is the perfect guide to introduce you to the world of improv. After a career in Information Technology, Dave has spent the last eight years studying with Open Mind. He has also taken numerous acting, dance, and improv classes in the Triangle and is currently a member of two performing troupes. Dave’s approach is to recognize that we are all unique by our very nature; we don’t have to worry about knowing what to do or say because improv teaches us to express that originality spontaneously.
As in all Open Mind classes, you can expect a fun, challenging, positive, and supportive atmosphere.
